Knowing Shalom: Moving in Wholeness
Wholeness seems elusive to those who have experienced trauma. And truthfully, many of us define ourselves by what we lack, whether education, health, money, or any number of desirables. Worse, trauma or abuse leave us feeling robbed of our innocence, a sense of well-being, or perhaps our homes and families.
But the shalom of the Lord includes a sense of wholeness. When the King of the universe dwells within us, he fills our spirits. Accessing his presence within ourselves is the absolute key to healing and restoration. He gives us so many ways to access him, though we don’t always recognize them. From reading the Bible to sitting under the trees and listening to the breeze rustle the leaves, we learn to live and move and have our being in him.
Your spirit is alive and well because God has plugged you into his power. Be aware of this today as you wrestle with the pains of your body and soul. Your spirit dwells in wholeness, and even now, he is leading you beside the quiet water.
Prayer for wholeness:
Dear Father who dwells in Heaven and our hearts,
Fill us anew with your Holy Spirit. Bring to us throughout each day a new awareness of your presence. Shine your light so brightly within us that it brings new life to our spirit, soul, and body. Join us in our battle against the enemy of our soul. Teach us to move in wholeness, lead by your voice in our hearts rather than the voice of our pain.
Bring shalom to our minds and bodies through the wholeness of your indwelling spirit in us. Bless us with eyes to see what you have made, ears to hear what you are saying, and a heart filled with your love for us and for others.
Blessing for the day:
For to everyone who has will more be given, and he will have abundance. So may the Lord increase you this week, multiplying the shalom you have into a wholeness that you can experience in your body, soul, and spirit.
